Abstract

960,149. Electric lamps. PATENTTREUHAND-GES. FUR ELEKTRISCHE GLUHLAMPEN. April 5, 1963 [April 19, 1962], No. 13621/63. Heading H1F. In an incandescent lamp having a tubular envelope with a helical filament extending axially therein, the filament is supported intermediately by a support consisting of a pair of circular turns 2, 3, Fig. 1, of wire in contact with and extending over at least half the circumference of the inner wall of the envelope, straight wire sections 3, 4 extending from the turns to an intermediate part which engages the filament. The intermediate part may consist of legs 7, 8, joined by a loop 6 enclosing one turn of the filament 1, the parts 6, 7, 8 forming a figure of eight. The filament is of tungsten with the ends connected by lead wires of tungsten welded to foils of molybdenum with a thin plate of platinum interposed, the foils being connected to molybdenum lead wires and sealed within the pouches at the ends of a tubular quartz envelope. One of the turns 2<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3, or one of the sections 4, 5 may have a crimp 16 to engage in the tip 15<SP>1</SP> left by the sealing off of the exhaust tube. Several such supports may be used in the case of larger envelopes.
