Abstract
968,621. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. WEATHERHEAD CO. March 7, 1962 [April 25, 1961], No. 8781/62. Heading G3P. [Also in Division F1] In an axial piston pump of the type in which the output is regulated by axial adjustment of the cylinder block whereby spill through each piston controlled inlet port is varied from a maximum to zero, the cylinder block is further axially adjustable whereby the effective area of the inlet ports is controlled. From the position shown in Fig. 1 movement of the cylinder block 62 to the left by the manually actuated shaft 117 causes increased spill from the inlet ports 85 during the pressure stroke; movement of the block 62 to the right causes the face 86 of the inlet port 85 to approach and finally coincide with the bottom dead centre position of the heads 71 of the pistons whereby the port 85 is progressively and finally totally closed by the pistons. In a modification the block is moved to regulate the output by spill by a servodevice actuated by outlet pressure and manually to regulate the output by controlling the effective inlet port area.
