Abstract

A method of heat treating steel sheet for electrical use comprises heating one face of the sheet while simultaneously cooling the other. The process may be continuous, the sheet being moved on cooled rollers through a furnace at a temperature of 1050 DEG C. and having an atmosphere of hydrogen. The steel may be silicon steel containing 0.7-4.3% Si and 0.08% max. C.
