Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to convert an input voltage covering a broad range by finding a difference between the output of a charge distribution system D/A converter and an analog input value to be digitally converted and then by making a chopper amplifier type voltage comparator circuit decide upon whether this difference is greater than a reference value or not.
CONSTITUTION: From logical control circuit 17 supplied with signals from input terminal 19 and clocks from input terminal 16, a control signal is sent to D/A converter circuit 12 and a 1st comparison voltage is applied from circuit 12 to adder circuit 14. Next, a control signal is sent from circuit 17 to polarity inverter circuit 13 to invert the polarity of an analog input signal by circuit 13 and another control signal is sent from circuit 17 to adder circuit 14 to add the output voltage of circuit 12 to the output of circuit 13. Further, a control signal is sent from circuit 17 to control circuit 18, which outputs the control signal, and circuit 15 makes a comparison between the output voltage of circuit 14 and the earth voltage to send its comparison result to circuit 17. According to this comparison result, circuit 17 carries out decision arithmetic to send out a control signal to circuit 12.
