Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an elastic cured product having excellent properties without cure inhibition, by applying, to the bottom of a joint, an open-cell plastic foam as a back-up material and then applying a two-component silicone sealant.
CONSTITUTION: In applying a two-component slicone sealant, an open-cell plastic foam is employed as a back-up material. Particularly, if a two-component low- modulus silicone sealant which, when cured, liberates hydroxylamine is applied, the sealant can cure sufficiently even if it is exposed to a high-temperature atmosphere during the course of curing. As the plastic foam which can be used, there can be mentioned a polyurethane foam, polyimide foam or a polyvinyl formal foam, but the most suitable is a polyurethane foam having more than 50% open cells.
