Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a microcapsule with a uniform particle size from an oil in water type emulsion by passing a mixed liquid of an oily liquid and a solution of a water soluble monomer or the like through a tubular mixer having a shearing means provided thereto to form the oil in water type emulsion. CONSTITUTION:A mixed liquid 11 of an oily liquid to be enclosed in a capsule and a solution of a water soluble monomer or polymer is entered into a holding tank 6. Only a valve 13c is closed and a constant-volume pump 7 is operated. The mixed liquid 11 is passed through a tubular mixer 8 having a barrier plate 10 suitable for shearing the liquid provided in an inside thereof and returned to the holding tank 6 from a pipe 12c. An average flow speed of the liquid in the tubular mixer 8 is adjusted 10-25m/sec and an average recirculation number to 1-50 times and, thereby, an oil in water type emulsion having an appropriate particle size and narrow particle size distribution is obtained. The resulting emulsion is transferred to a wall film forming treatment tank 9 through a valve 13c and a wall film is formed therein to obtain a microcapsule dispersion.
