Abstract

PURPOSE:To automatically set the size of paper, by providing a means for obtaining paper size data according to a paper detection signal and a printing control part for controlling a printing range according to the paper size data. CONSTITUTION:A measuring direction change-over switch 11 is set to a paper length and paper is set to a paper feed mechanism part 14 and a start switch 12 is pushed down, whereupon a paper size setting control part 13 responds to the start signal to control the paper feed mechanism part 14 and paper feed is started. A paper detection signal is sent to the paper size setting control part 13 from a paper sensor 15 and counting is started in a counter 16. The counter 18 receives '1' at every definite amount of line feed (paper feed amount). When the paper slips off from the paper sensor 15, the counting operation in the counter 16 is finished. The value of the counter 16 at this time is stored into a paper size memory part 17 as a paper length. When a paper width is measured, the same procedure is taken. Paper size data is sent to a printing control part 18 to control the printing range in a printer.
