Abstract

System for determining the rate of flow of a liquid in a pipeline. A fixed plate (15) in contact with the liquid is fed with thermal energy and the effect of the heat measured downstream. The head (13) is imparted to the liquid periodically in the form of heat pulses. the measurement downstream is effected by two temperature sensors (9, 10) placed at a distance from each other. The difference in time and in the phases between the reactions of each of the temperature sensors is a measure of the rate of flow of the liquid. The measuring circuit will register the times at which the two peaks in temperature occur.
