Abstract

A continuous filament yarn having novelty colour effects is comprised of synthetic linear polymer filaments of varying deniers, the larger denier filaments being darker in colour than the smaller denier filaments. The polymer may be a polyester, a polyamide, a polyolefin or an acrylic polymer. Many polymer and copolymer compositions are specified. The yarn is made by spinning a polymer coloured by a dye or pigment through a spinnaret having jet capillaries of different diameters, and twisting the resulting filament, to give a multi-coloured or "heather effect" yarn.
