To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES M. ANDRES, a citizen of the United States of America, residing .at-Albany, in the county of Albany and State of New York, haveinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Mechanics Candle-Holders, of which the fol-y lowing is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to a candle-stick holder which is intended to be used by mechanics, and which is so constructed that it may be readily connected with any supportl which may be handy.,-
This device is so constructed that it may be connected with either a horizontal or a' vertical support.
lt is also desired to provide a candle stick which is so constructed that the supporting pan may be tightly secured in an adjusted position to prevent the pan from working loose after the bracket has been connected l with the support.
With these and other objects in view, this invention consists in general of certain combinations, constructions and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter fully describedV and claimed.`
This invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein :-A l
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the candle holder. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view through the candle holder in the position shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a bottom plan view ofthe pan and a portion of the bracket. Fig. 4 is a top plan view showing the bracket turned for connection witha vertical support. Fig. 5 is a sectional view through a candle holder having a modihed form of bracket.
This invention comprises a pan 10 having a thickened shoulder 11 from which there extends an arm 12 provided with an openened shoulder 11 to add weight so that the pan will be held inthe desired; position and so that the rear face of the pan will fit tightly against the bridge 16 of the supporting bracket. After the securing screw has been tightened as shown in Fig. 2, the arm 12 and thickened shoulder 11 are drawn tightly against the bridge, thus causing a frictional engagement the entire height'of the bridge and preventing any danger of the pan turning. The arms 17 of the bracket are provided with shoulders 18 and 19, the shoulder 19 being provided with a threaded opening through whichv 4the securing screw 20 passes. This screw is provided with a head 21 which engages the under-face of the supporting shelf 22 and which is positioned beneath the shoulder 18 so that when the stem 20 is turned by means oi its handle 23, the bracket will be securely connected with theA supporting shelf. If 1t is desired to connect this bracket with a vertical supporting shelf, the bracket is turned to the position shown in Fig. 4 and the stem 20 then tightened to connect the bracket with the support. When the bracket is in this position, the pan will be in the same position as in Fig. 2, thus holding the candle in vertical position.
A candle holder has thus been rovided which can be securely but remova ly connected with a support, extending in either a vertical or horizontal plane with the candle at all times remaining in a vertical position. There has also been provided a pan having an im roved construction, tending to normally hold the pan in a position to retain the candle in a vertical position.
' The holder shown in Fig. 5 is constructed in the saine manner as the one shown in Fig. 2 with the exception that the upper arm of the bracket is curved so that the bracket may be connected with a round support such as a ipe.
at is claimed as new is:
A candle holder comprisin a pan having its rear portion thickene to form a shoulder, an arm extending above said shoulder with its outer face forming a continuation of the outer face of said shoulder, a securing bracket havin a bridge of sub-V stantially the same lengti as the combined lengths of said shoulder and arm, securing means passing through said arm and bridge for removably securing said arm to sald bridge, and means carried by said bracket for removably connecting the same with a support. v
In testimony whereof I hereunto aiiix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
CHARLES MATHEUW ANDRES.
