To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JULIUS M. GRENZ- rnLDER,'a citizen of theiUnited States, residing in the city of St. Louis, inthe Stateof Missouri, have invented new anduseful Improvements in Trusses and Truss-Frames,

veryexcellent forms of trusses and sup-' porters, all of which however, have certain objections, which it is the purpose and ob-v ject of my improvements to overcome.

One object accordingly, of my invention is to provide a truss frame which is light, strong and so constructed as to readily conform and adjust itself to the shape and contour of the body of "the wearer, without requiring special bending for that purpose.

Another object is to provide a truss frame which will not curl or bend out of shape along horizontal lines but will maintain its rigidity at all times.

Another object of my invention is to provide a truss frame construction, whereby the truss when so constructed, may be readily self, without requiring the service of a physician or surgeon.

'Still another object is the providing of a truss which may be readily lengthenedor shortened at will, and one whereby the re quired pressure may be easily adjusted to any point upon the body, at will. y

I attain these and other objects by the mechanism and arrangements illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure I shows atruss frame, equipped with pad and all complete except the covering. accordance with my improved method, properly adjusted in place upon a human body,

Referring now more particularly to the drawings, in Fig. I the figures 11, 1, 7, 5, 9, 3, 13, 14, 10, 6, 8, 2 and 12, exhibit the genparts eral shape in the preferred form of con-' struction, of the frontal portion of one of my trusses, and it will be noted that the contour is such, through the upward bend? ing of the frame at the points8 and 10, as to form the arches at the points 2 and 4, which comfortably'adjust over-the liips 62 and 63 (Fig. II), and at the same time a depressed central connecting portion 8 to 10, upon, and along which at any point desired may beclamped the pad'47 for afford ing pressure upon any desired portion of the abdomen. It will be noted that the extremities of said frontal piece spread and diverge, as at ll, 12 and 18, 14, and that from said extremities depend a : series'of links 15, 16, 17 and 18, 19, 20, connected together 'bymeans of the tubular collars 48, 49, 50 and 51, 52, 53, and itwill alsobe noted that the upper and lower sides ofsaid links are not exactly parallel, but gradually converge, so that progressing from front to back, each'successive link is slightly smaller in size than its predecessor. To the'last and smallestlink on each side, as at 17 and 20, are connected the ordinary leather or canvas straps 23 and 82, the strap 23 being punctured along a medial line with the holes 24, 25, 26, 27 and the strap 32 being equipped with 1 the buckle 33, whereby ready means are afiorde'd for fastening the apparatus upon the body.
