RICHARD I COOK, OF JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA.
IMPROVEMENT IN STEAK-MAS' I'ICATORS.
I Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 130,844, dated August 27, 1872.
I Specification describing a new and Improved Steak-Masticator, invented by RICHARD F.
COOK, of Jacksonville, in the county of Duval and State of Florida.
My invention consists of a grooved or corrugated table and a corrugated roller combined in such manner that the steak, being placed on the said table and the roller turned forth and back, the latter will roll over the steak, and crush, and masticate it very efficiently, the table and roller being held in contact with each other or with the steak between V them by springs, which compensate for the variations in the thickness of the steak.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved masticator, and Fig. 2 is a plan view.
Similar letterspf reference indicate corresponding parts.
A is a small table, with angular transverse ribs and grooves, mounted on four rods, B,
rising up from a platform, O, so as to slide up and down on them, with coiled springs, D, on the said rods under the table to press it upward with whatever force may be required. E represents a pair of toothed bars supported on these posts at the top; and F, guide-rods above them, on which the roller-bearings G, in whichthe corrugated roller H are fitted,
slide forward and back when the roller is turned, being caused to slide by the pinions I on the roller-shaft gearing with the toothed bars. A crank, K, is attached to the rollershaft for turning it. corrugated, said rollers, also the table A, are provided with studs or pins, L, projecting above the surface sufficiently to aid materially in the treatment of the steak. The springs may be provided with adjusting-nuts on the rods, or otherwise, for varying their tension and power, as may be required for pieces of different qualities. The table may be made to slide and the roller to remain in stationary bearings, if preferred.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent,
The transversely-ribbed and grooved table A, rods B, coiled springs D, platform 0, toothed bars E, guide-rods F, bearings G, corrugated roller H, and pinion I, all combined and arranged as and for the purpose set forth..
RICHARD F. COOK.
