To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HUBERT BAILEY, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of the Bronx, in the county of Bronx and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in WVashing Appliances, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to a washing appliance, primarily designed for use for bathing.

The general object of this invention is the provision of a cheap, simple and durable washing appliance provided with means for directing and controlling the flow of water, and an eflicient rubbing tool which assists in the directing of the water flow and prevents splashing.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a washing appliance provided with a rubbing member in the form of a flexible skirt that may be turned back upon itself to convert the washing appliance into a douche syringe.

These objects are accomplished by providing a nozzle, mounting in the nozzle a screen which lies across the channel through the nozzle and attaching to the nozzle a flexible skirt which extends beyond the latter.

These and other objects of the invention will be more clearly understood from the following detailed description and. accompanying drawings.

Figure 1 is a vertical section through the washing appliance showing its construction;

Figure 2 is a side elevation of the washing appliance with a portion of the depending skirt cut away and showing how the washing appliance may be tilted to permit the escape of the water;

Figure 3 is a side elevation of the washing appliance with a portion of the skirt cut away and showing the skirt turned back upon itself;

Figure 4: is a bottom plan view of the washing appliance.

Referring tothe above-mentioned drawings, the invention includes a nozzle 10 provided with an enlarged portion 11 at a distance from its end. The end of the nozzle is turned inward, as shown at 17 providing a means for shaving the stream of Water. 5 Connected with said enlarged portion of the nozzle is a hose-receiving nipple 12 on which a hose 13 is mounted. Located in the nozzle is a screen 14 which extends across the channel through the nozzle.v A depending flexible skirt 15 of hemispherical shape has formed on its upper end an elastic casing 16 adapted to receive the enlarged portion 11 of the nozzle 10. This flexible skirt 15 encircles the nozzle 10 and extends beyond the end of the latter, forming a rubbing member for the washing appliance.

When the washing appliance is in use the screen mounted in the nozzle equalizes the pressure throughout the stream and produces a smooth solid stream of water which does not splash under normal pressures. The depending flexible skirt 15 provided as a rubbing member encloses the end of the nozzle 10 and receives any splash water that may be deflected from any object. The flexible skirt is a very satisfactory and suitable rubbing member. Further, by tilting the skirt it may be used to direct a sheet of water over any portion of the object being washed. This directing of the sheet of water over any particular portion of the object being washed proves very satisfactory when the washing appliance is used for washing purposes.

Since the skirt 15 is flexible it may be turned back upon itself to convert the Washing appliance into a douche syringe of the ordinary construction. This increases the value of the washing appliance since it may be used fo-r'more than one purpose.

I would state in conclusion. that while the illustrated example constitutes a practical embodiment of my invention I do not limit myself strictly to the exact details herein illustrated since manifestly the same can be considerably varied without departing from the spirit of the invention as defined in the appended claims.

Claims: 1. A washing tool, comprising a nozzle having an annularly enlarged portion back of its outlet end, a double convex screen in said enlarged portion, and a flexible rubhing member surrounding the outlet end of the nozzle and having an internal recess re- 5 ceiving the enlarged portion of the nozzle. 2. A washing too-l, comprising a nozzle having an enlarged portion adjacent its outlet end, a cup-like flexible rubbing member surrounding the outlet end of the nozzle and having an opening therethrough shaped to correspond with the enlarged portion and enclosing the "enlarged portion of the nozzle and coupled thereto.
