CYLINDRICAL CASE F013, HOLDING SHAVING SOAP AND SIMILAR BJ' ECTS.
' Appucaaon mea Maren 11., 1925. serian No. 14,754.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, GUs'rAv ADoLrH HUNDEWADT, a citizen of the German Republic, residing at Hamburg, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in and Relating to Cylindrical Cases for Holding Shaving Soap and Similar Objects, of which the following is a speciication. V
The invention refers to improvements in the cylindrical cases for holding sticks of shaving-soap and similar objects, and more particularly spoken it concerns the inner parts of such cases, the upper brim of which,
y having a plurality of longitudinal slits, is provided with resilienttongues, adapted to Y hold the soap-stick or the like by pressing on it. It has been found howeventhat the inwardly pressing resiliency ot those tongues is often either too strong or too weak, to lit;
for the particular stick of soap or the like contained in the case. y y
lThose inconveniences are overcome according to my present invention by arranging the upper slit brim .of the inner parts Ywith a somew iat conical outer surface and Vby providing a corresponding conicalring or errule adapted to be slipped over the lbrim and to compress its tongues more and more, the deeper the ring is slipped. In the practical executionl of the invention the brim and the ring to be slipped over it may be provided with screw-threads, for the purpose of preventing the ring from slipping orf the'brim, if the latter has turned to be slippery by the soap or other contents oi" the case. Another advantage or the newr Iconstruction according to my invention con-- Vsists therein, that an equal pressure of the tonguesor parts of the slit case on the soapstick or the like is obtained, even if the outer circumference of the soap-stick is not` quite regular or if the diameter varies. Further itis possible, to provide a cylindrical brim beyond the screw-threaded part of the*V ferrule or screw-nut, which Vflat brim, by
covering theslit ends of the case, makes it possible, to use up the soap-stick to its-.last end, without being hurt by.' the sharp corners of the tongues.
In the drawings I stick, and an upper case or lid have shown av longitui dinal section through a preferred embodiment of the invention.
The .cylindrical case consists in the lower parta'and the upper part or lid Z), the latter being adapted to be slipped over the former, to which effect it is advisable, to provide the lower part with a narrowed upper shoulder upon which the lid 3 is adapted to rest. The upper brim c of the lower part of the Icase is provided with longitudinal slots d, and further `it is made conical; besides that it is provided with a screwthread e, which may be pressed into the sheet-metal forming the case. On this thread is screwed-a screw-threaded ring or iierrule f, which hasy the saine conicalshape as the brim c of the lower case al. In the` shown construction I have provided small cylindrical parts above and below the screw.-
threaded conical parts of the lower case and the surrounding'ring The cake or stick of the soap g has about the same diameter as the upper cylindrical end o of the case a, so that by screwing the ring f downon the thread e of the case a, the tongues d are narrowed, so as to press on the soapstickl and to holdk it in the desired height. By
screwing ofl the ferrule or ring f, the clamp- Y ing -connection is loosened and the soap-stick is released. p
ternally threadedv portion, a clamping ringr v presenting an internallyl threaded conical portion adapted to be associated with the threaded *portionsy of the tongues whereby to force theY free ends of the tongues into smooth clamping relation with the soap seated on said annular shoulder.
In testimony whereof I have ahxedmy signature.
GUsTAv AnoLPH HUNDEWADT.
