PATENT OFFICE.

The present invention relates to a device -for holding tooth brushes or other articles of a similar character, so that dirt, dust, and the like will be excluded from the brushes, 5 and they will thus be .kept in more sanitary condition.
In the accompanying drawings:v v Figure 1 is an end elevation of the device, Figure 2 is a rear elevation` Figure 3 is a perspective view of the rear wall,
Figure 4 isa perspective view of the front wallor cover, v Figure 5 is a sectional view on the line 5-5 of Figure 2,
` Figure 6 is a sectional view on the line .6 6 of Figure 1.
The device is made up of two principal parts, a rear wall member and a cover member. The rear wall member preferably consists of a substantially fiat sheet 7 of metal, having a horizontalrearwardly pressed groove 8 in its upper portion and a pair of bearing yprojections 9y in its lower portion. The lower end of this sheet is outturned, preferably at a slight upward inclination, forming an integral flange 10. This dange is provided with a set ofrearwardly tapered cuts or openings 11, terminating in enlarged sockets 12, the cuts thus providing a `series of jaws 13 between them. In order to reen-l force .the flange the rear wall is furthermore preferably provided with out-standing end flanges 14 that are suitably connected vtothe ends of the fiange 10: The' rear wall 'is also provided with suitable openings 15 to receive fasteners` hy which the device can be secured to a wall or other support.
The cover member also preferably consists of a substantially dat sheet 16, the upper end of which is formed into a loop 17 that surrounds a pintle or pivot wire 18. This loop 17 fits into the groove 8 of the rear wall and the ends of the wire pass through and are hooked -about said rear wall, as indicated at 19, thus providinga pivot mountin between the upper end of thecver mem r and the rear wall memconstruction,
ber. The lower edge of they cover member v is preferabl doubled, as shown at 20, doin away with s arp edges, and thus the doubled end ormargin extends slightly below the flange 10, forming a convenient projection that can belengaged by the finger to raise the cover. The cover member also has its end portions bent rearwardly into triangular end walls 21 that close the space between the front wall and the rear wall and overlie the flanges 14.
It will be evident that with this construction tooth brushes-may be placed in the sockets and removed therefrom with entire convenience, and 'when in lace and the cover is closed the heads of-t e brushes are com-- pletely covered and thus protected from dust, and other unsanitar conditions. The device is extremely simp e' in its make-up, inasmuch as the parts can be stamped from sheet metal andreadily joined.
From the foregoing, it is thought that the operation and many advantages of the-herein described invention will be apparent'to those skilled in the art, without further description, y stood that variouschanges in the size, shape, proportion and minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
What I claim, is:
A tooth brush holder comprising wall having an integral outturne a rear bottom ange provided with tooth brush holding means, and end anges that are connected to the bottom flange, a cover comprising a plate hinged at its upper end directly to the upper por'tion of the rear'wall and having its lower end overhanging the bottom flange thereof, said cover having substantially tri.- angular end walls that extend over the ends of the bottom `flange and over the end anges and close the space between the rear wall and cover.
In testimony whereof, I- aix my signa ture.
