My invention relates to improvements in folding display stand. One of its objects is to provide a light weight compact display stand adapted to be supported upon tables,

show-cases, and in similar localities and to support packages and containers in position to display the goods to advantage for vending purposes. Another object is to provide a more efficient, strong and inexpensive stand for such purpose. Another object is to provide improved means whereby the stand may be readily converted to and from folded or extended positions, and made firm and reliable in its extended position; My invention also comprises certain details of form and combination and. arrangement of components, all of which will be fully set forth in the description of the accompanying drawings, in which:

The accompanying drawings illustrate the preferred embodiment of my invention, in which 15 represent lower front side rails, in pairs, connected together near their lower ends by means of a rest rail 16 preferably of angular cross section, and at their upper ends by means of an axle or tie rod 17 Upper side rails 18, in pairs, are also connected together by means of the axle or tie rod 17. The rails 18 are also connected together near their upper ends by means ofa tie rod 19, and at an intermediate point are connected together by means of a rest rail 20, preferably of angular cross section. Where the side rails 15, 18, and 22 are mounted upon the tie rod 17, said side rails may be clamped upon the reduced ends of the tie rod 17 by means of clamping nuts. The ends of the siderails 18 have stop members 30 formed integral therewith by bending sections of the metal of said side rails 18 laterally into the path of adjustment of the side rails 15, to limit the relative movement of the side rails 15 and 18 upon the tie rod 17, as shown in the extended position Fig. 1. The ends of the side rails are bent laterally into the path of adj ustment of the side rails 22 to form stop members 32,.which serve to limit the relative movement of the side rails 15 and 22 as indicated in the extended position Fig. 1. In the folded position the stop members 32 are disengaged from-the side rails 22. Fig. 3 indicates an intermediate position of the side rails during the operation of folding or unfolding the stand.

l/Vhen the stand is in its extended position Fig. 1, the rest rail'l6 forms a support for the loweredge of one or more containers35 while the tie rod 17 serves as a rest or support for the upper rear portion of saidcontainers thereby holding the containers in an inclined position best calculated to display the contents of said containers through their open tops to a person located in front of said stand. One or more of said containers 35 are adapted to be supported at their lower front edge by means of therest rail 20, while the upper rear portions of said containers rest upon the tie rod 19. The weight of the containers mounted upon the" stand serves. to add to the rigidity of thestand. The relative positions of the upper and lower tiers of containers is such that neither interferes with obtaining an unobstructed view of the other. The stand and weight to be carried thereby are so. proportioned and distributed that the center of gravity is between the rails 16 and 24 and the weight of the containers therefore adds to the firmness and rigidity of the stand. The stand itself is light, strong and inexpensive to produce and folds compactly into small space when not required for use.

The apparatus herein shown and described is capable of considerable modification with-' in the scope of the claim without departing from the spirit of my invention. 1

hat I claim is:

A display stand comprising a centrally locatedsubstantially horizontal axle, a skeleton lower forward frame connected to said axle at its upper end, a skeleton lower rear frame connected to said axle near its upper end, and a skeleton upper frame connected to said axle near its lower end, said lower forward frame and upper frame being relatively adjustable upon said axle into substantially one inclined plane with the lower rear frame acting as a rearwardly extending lateral brace in the extended position of the stand, and said three frames being relatively adjustalole into overlapping substantially parallel planes in the folded position of said stand with'said axle at one. end of all of said frame, rest rails carrled respectively by said lower front frame and said upper frame adapted to supporta plurality of containers in an inclined position upon the upwardly inclined face of said stand, the lower ends of said upper frame having outwardly turned ends engaging the lower forward frame when said frames are in their extended position and the upper ends of the lower forward frame having outwardly turned portions to engage the upper ends of the lower rear frame to limit the relative movement of said front andrear lower frames.
