This invention relates to containers for confections, nut` products and other edibles which should be carefully protected against contamination and changes in moisture content, but which should be so packaged that they may be attractively displayed. It is common practice to emp oy a` transparent sheet material known a glassine in the packagin of edibles, but this material is 1o open to t e objections that it possesses little strength and is`not moisture-proof.
There is available a tough, moistureproof, transparent material knownas cellophane, manufactured by theJDu Pont Company, but it has not heretofore been practicable to employ this material in the production of a moisture-proof-package for the reason that its moistureroof property militates against the use o adhesive material I 2o in sealing the package.

In practice, the body portion A is lledws with the desired contents, after which a circular sheet of cellophane is laid upon the body portion A, the diameter of said sheet being such that its periphery projects beyond the periphery of the body portion to an extent equal approximately to the height of the side wall 2. The cover C is then slipped upon the body portion A, in which operation the cellophane is drawn taut over the contents of the box and the peripheral portion ofthe sheet is bent down around the I side wall 2. It will be seen that the contents of the package may be attractively displayed beneath the transparent covering B, said cover preventing contamination and changes in moisture content. The .paper strip 6 which tightly encircles' the peripheral portion of the cellophane provides a substantially hermetic seal. The use of this band between two annular confining formations, such as 3 and 4, has solved the problem of securing a wrapping which is moisture-proof and thus not a apted to receive an application of adhesive material.
