IMPROVEMENT IN REVOLVING BOOK-SHELVES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 185,385, dated December 19, 1876; application iled August 28,1876.

To all whom yit may concern:

Be it known that I, JOSEPH J. BIsEL, of Lewisburg, in the county of Union and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Revolving Stands; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the saine, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters or" reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

My invention relates to revolving bookshelves, and it consists in the construction and operation of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described, and pointed out by the claim.

To and along the edges of the shelves E E are fastened strips G G of leather or other suitable material. These strips may be ont or stamped out in any desired pattern, so as to present a neat and handsome appearance; and they are intended to hang down below the top edges of the books, so as to protect the same from dust.

I represents a sliding or adjustable shelf, arranged on one side of the structure, in suitable guides or Ways under one of the shelves E, which is for the purpose of supporting a book while the same is being read.

It is evident that such sliding or adjustable shelves may be arranged under any one or more of the shelves E on any one or more of the sides of the structure.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

As a new article of manufacture, the revolving stand herein described, consisting of a series of shelves, provided with one or more adjustable shelves, and having exible strips G attached to and hanging over the edges of the shelves, and the center supporting-post B, and the spider O, constructed and arranged substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
