Description

March 24, 1936. R. BLAsER BELT FOR SUPPORTING WEARING APPAREL Filed July 3, 1934 Jnventor' b WUDQJJ-BLASER y I 5 V fllitorney Patented Mar. 24, 1936 UNITED STATES BELT FOR SUPPORTING WEARING APPAREL Rudolf Blaser, Bremen, Germany Application my a, 1934, Serial No. 733,577 In Germany May 30, 1933 2 Claims.
My invention relates to improvements in belts for supporting wearing apparel such as trousers, sln rts and other garments, and the object of the invention is to provide a belt which is securely held on the body of a person without being tightened about the same so as to be uncomfortable and injurious to health, and on which the garment to be supported is securely held. With this object in view my invention consists in constructlO ing the belt of an inner portion of porous, soft and elastic material capable of strong adhesion and having a thick cross-section, and a nonelastic or moderately elastic reinforcing band applied to the outer surface-of the said inner por-v tion.
For the purpose of explaining the invention an example embodying the same has been shown in the accompanying drawing in which Fig. 1 is a sectional elevation showing a part of the shirt of the person wearing the belt and thei top part of the trousers supported by the belt,
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the belt.
In the example shown in the drawing the belt 5 comprises a. soft elastic inner part a made from porous, soft and elastic material, thick in crosssection, the said part having a substantial capacity for adhesion or a high coefllcient of friction, a suitable material being sponge rubber.
To the outside of the part a a non-elastic or moderately elastic band b is applied which partly covers the outer surface of the part a and is preferably embedded in a circumferential recess or groove e of the said part; as shown in Fig. 1
hips. Without being drawn tight it adheres firmly to the undergarment, such as a shirt, around which it is worn. The outer garment to be supported, such as the trousers, is supported on the belt by having its upper rim located above 5 the portion a of the belt and drawn somewhat tight, so that the said rim rests on the top of the portion a which forms a ridge running around the waist.
The portion a is held in positionon the shirt 1' 10 of the person by friction and it prevents the shirt from working upwards. The trousers a can not slip down because they are reduced in diameter at their upper rim as compared to the portion a of the belt. Thus no special means are 15 needed for attaching the trousers to the belt. The softness of the part a and the loose fit around the waist prevent inconvenience; to the wearer when breathing and after meals. By providing the holes d the belt is made more elastic, and 20 air is permitted to circulate through the said holes to prevent humidity by perspiration.
I claim:
l. A garment supporting belt comprising an inner body-encircling band of sponge rubber 5 having substantial thickness and provided with a groove in the mid-portion of its outer face, and an outer band of small elasticity mounted in said groove, the thickness of said outer band being less-than the depth of said groove.
2. A garment supporting belt comprising an inner band of yielding material having an inherent high vcoeiiflcient of friction and dimensioned to develop no material circumferential tension in its operative'position on the person of the wearer, said inner band being formed upon its outersurface-wlth a circmnferential groove. and an outer reinforcing band carried by said inner band and embedded in the circumferential armors BLABER.
