I These lotions are 5 usually of a-mucilaginous or slippery character. Consequently when applying the same to the hair the lotion gets on the hands of the operator and makes it diflicult tohandle the container holding themateriah. In accordance with 'thepresent invention I provide 'a' container or bottlepreierably having a relatively long neck and a sprayer having a handleportion arranged to cooperate with the bottle so 'that'the device may be conveniently held and manipulated by one hand.
Other objects of the invention are to provide a sprayer includingv a container and havinga handle portion for engagement with one finger of the operator and the spray nozzle heldin adjustedposition so that it may be actuated by the thumb;

In the particular form of sprayer shown in this drawing, 5 is the bottle or container having a neck portion 6 preferably of sufiicient length so that it v may be convenientlyengaged by several fingers of U the operator. As shownin Figure v1, the bottle has a cap I of the threaded type or other suitable type. The spray'pump has a cylinder or'tubular portion 8 with a downwardly extending intake pipe 9 and has a ring or flange Hi preferably I 40 formed integrally therewith, and a threaded upper end II which extends outthrough a hole in the top of the cap. A handle 24 has a hole at one end for receiving the threaded end I l of the cylinder and is provided with an annular bead or ridgez25 for stiffening the same and for receiving a strengthening Washer 25 which is interposed between the end of the handle and the nut or cap nut l3, the. arrangement being such that when the nut is tightened the handlemay be held securely in any adjusted position circumferentially with respect to the spray nozzle. The handle may also be provided with additional-ribs 21 for stiffening the same and terminates in a downwardly curved end portion 28 which fits over the index finger of the operator as shown in Figure 1.
When an operator uses the sprayer the neck portion of the bottle is grasped by the fingers; for p v instance of the right hand and the handle fits against the index finger as shown, which brings the thumb in alignment with the groove 23 so that the spray may be positively directed in the desired direction. By means of this arrangement the container or sprayer may be. securely held even if the-hand becomes slippery due to contact with the lotion. If the operator is left-handed the handle may be adjusted relatively to the spray nozzle as shown in dotted lines in Figure 2, by
loosening the nut and swinging the handle around and again tightening the nut to hold the parts in such adjusted position.

2. The combination with a bottle having an elongated neck providing a hand hold, of a cap for the bottle, a spray pump mounted in thecap and having a reciprocable spring actuated dison the fingers while the thumb may be used'for reciprocating the discharge pipev whereby. the spray may be discharged in a predetermined direction.
3. The combination with a bottle having aicap, of a pumpcylinder having a threaded end extending outwardly through a hole in the cap, an annular abutment on the cylinder on the inside of the cap, a nut engaging with the threaded end of the cylinder and having an axial projection With'a non-circular hole therethrough, a springpressed piston mounted in the cylinder, a reciprocable hollow piston rod extending outwardly from the piston through the hole in the projection, the periphery thereof conforming to the shape of vthe hole whereby "the rod is positively prevented from suprotating, a discharge nozzle at the end of the rod extending at right angles thereto and having a groove in the top, and a handle'having a hole for receiving the threaded end of the cylinder and extending laterally from the cap, the handle being interposed between the nut and cap and held in adjustedposition by tightening the nut.
