Application March 15, 1956, Serial No. 571,776. 3 Claims. (Cl. 128-284) This invention relates to a baby diaper, and particularly of the type in which the various excreta are separated from contact with the skin of the child so that there is less possibility of irritation.

An object of my invention is to provide a novel baby diaper in which there are separate receptacles or compartments within the diaper, one to contain or hold urine and theother to contain and hold the stool.

Another object of my invention is to provide a novel baby diaper of the character stated, in which the body portion of the diaper is formed of cloth and is placed next to the skin of the child, and the receptacle portion of the diaper is separate and detachable from the body portion thereof so that the parts of the diaper may be separated and individually washed, as necessary.

Still another object of my invention resides in the effective and simple means whereby the urine may be readily drained from its receptacle or bag without disturbing the position of or removing the entire diaper.

Other objects, advantages and features of invention may appear from the accompanying drawing, the subjoined detailed description and the appended claims.

Referring more particularly to the drawing, the numeral 1 indicates the main body of the diaper which is preferably formed of a suitable cloth material, and the main body includes waist bands 2-2 which encircle the waist of the infant. The main body 1 is shaped to fit the child and is positioned between the legs of the infant in the usual and well known manner. A compartment containing portion 3 of the diaper is mounted on the outside of the cloth body portion 1 and is detachably secured to the body portion 1 by means of separable or snap fasteners 4, or similar means. The body portion 1 is formed with a hole 5 therein and this hole is positioned in the lower forward portion of the diaper. The purpose of this hole is to permit urine to flow into an appropriate pocket or receptacle, as will be subsequently described. A second larger opening or hole 6 is provided at the lower rear portion of the cloth diaper 1 and the purpose of I this opening is to receive a paper pack 7 for the reception of the stool, and also the hole 6 aligns with a suitable pocket or receptacle in the portion 3 of the diaper, as will be subsequently described.

Considering first the means of receiving and retaining the urine, the opening or hole 5 is so positioned that the urine secretive organ is readily alignable therewith, and thereceptacle portion 3 of the diaper is formed with a hole 8 therein, which hole opens into a bag 9. The bag 9 is also preferably formed of plastic and the opening in the bag is sealingly attached to the opening 8 so that the urine will all pass into this bag. An outlet tube 10 extends from the bag so that liquid can be readily drained therefrom. An opening 11 is provided in the portion 3 of the diaper and in the front thereof, and this opening is closed. by the slide fastener 12 for the purpose of exposing the bag 9 and also permitting the tube 10 to be withdrawn.

The receptacle portion 3 of the diaper is provided with a recess or pocket 13 which is aligned with the opening 6, substantially as shown. The purpose of the hole 6 and the recess 13 is to provide space for the paper pack 7. When the snap fasteners 4 are secured, the main portion 1 and the receptacle portion 3 of the diaper are properly positioned so that the hole 6, pocket 13, and holes 5 and 8 are all properly aligned.

A plurality of baffles 14 may be provided adjacent the opening of the bag 9 to prevent spilling of the contents thereof.

The receptacle portion 3 of the diaper may be formed with a separate cover piece or flap 15 which extends over the opening 5 and is formed with its own opening 16, in which the open end of the bag 9 is secured. A waist band 17 is secured to one end of the flap 15 and a pair of tapes 18 and 19 are secured to the other end of the flap for the purpose of pressing the flap 15 tightly against the body of the infant.

Having described my invention, I claim:

1. A baby diaper comprising a main body portion, said body portion including waist bands thereon, and said body portion being shaped to fit an infant, a receptacle portion, means detachably securing said receptacle portion to the said main portion'of the diaper, said main portion and receptacle portions each having a hole therein, said holes being aligned and a urine bag in said receptacle portion, said urine bag being open to and extending from said hole in the receptacle portion, said body portion having a second opening therein adjacent the first named hole and said receptacle portion having a pocket therein aligned with the last named opening, and a paper pack arranged within said pocket.

A baby diaper comprising a main body portion, said body portion including waist bands thereon, and said body portion being shaped to fit an infant, a receptacle portion, means detachably securing said receptacle portion to the said main portion of the diaper, said main portion and receptacle portions each having a hole therein, said holes being aligned and a urine bag in said receptacle portion, said urine bag being open to and extending from said hole in the receptacle portion, said receptacle portion having another elongated opening therein to expose said bag and closure means on the receptacle portion for said last named opening, and an outlet tube on said urine bag, said tube being adapted to project from the last named opening, said body portion having a second opening therein adjacent the first named hole and said receptacle portion having a pocket therein aligned with the last named opening, and a paper pack arranged within said pocket.

A baby diaper comprising a main body portion, said body portion including waist bands thereon, and said body portion being adapted to fit an infant, a receptacle portion extending from front to rear of the body portion and between the legs of the infant, detachable means at both the front and rear of the receptacle portion securing said receptacle portion to said main portion of the diaper, saidmain portion and receptacle portions each having a hole therein, said holes being aligned and a urine bag in said receptacle portion, said urine bag heing open to and extending from said hole in the receptacle portion, said receptacle portion having another elongated opening therein to expose, said bag, and closure means on the receptacle portion for said last named. elongated opening, and an outlet tube on said urine bag, said tube being adapted to project from the last named opening'to drain the urine bag, said body portion having a second opening therein adjacent the first named hole, and said receptacle portion having a pocket therein aligned with the last named opening, anda paper pack arranged Within said pocket.
