NITE STATES ISAAC NOAR, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
.NECKTIE ATTACHM ENT.
BPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 319,840, dated June 9, 1885.
Application filed April 15, 1885.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ISAAC NOAH, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Necktie Attachments; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure 1 of the drawings is arepresentation of this invention, and is a top view. Fig. 2 is a perspective View of the collar-button clasp. Fig. 3 is a front view of the buckle. Fig. 4 is a back view. Fig. 5 is a perspective view.
This invention relates to the class of buckles designed to be attached to the bands of neck-wear-such as bows, ties, scarfs, and the like; and it consists in the novel construction and combination of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
Referring by letter to the accompanying drawings, A designates the collar, and B the stud or collarbutton which secures it to the neckband of the shirt.
At one end of the buckle O, which is made of a single piece of wire, is formed the loop D, by which the buckle may be permanently attached by stitching, to one end of the tieband or scarf-band. From this loop D the wire of which the buckle is formed is bent downward, as at a, then bent in a direction at a that will approach the neckband of the shirt and engage the collar from beneath up- (No model.)
wardly, so as to prevent the tie-band from riding up on the collar when engaged by the stabbing-pin. The wire is then carried upward, forming one-half of the arm I), and downward to complete said arm, as shown at c, then out along the bend a and up, as at a, forming an elongated V in conjunction with the longer arm of the loop D. The arm or portion which completes the V is bent at its upper termination, as at d, to form a catch to hold the tie-band or scarf-band in place and prevent it from riding up over the collar.
One end of the loop D, which is stitched to the tie or scarf band in any suitable manner, projects beyond the points and is provided with a pointed bend, I, which forms the stabbing-pin by which the neckband is retained in place when the two are engaged and in place while worn. By employing a construction of this character it is easy for the wearer to adjust it to place, as it will not be necessary to slide the hand through a shield and then to adjust it by means of a pin, as is now commonly done. I
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
The herein-described buckle for neckbands of ties and scarfs, comprising the loop D, provided with the stabbing-pin, the guide-loop having the bend d at its upper end, and the upwardly-extending collar-engaging arm rising from the base of the said guide-loop, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
