Description
Jan. 17, 1967 v C. J. GOBINS 3,298,035
HAIR CURLER HEAD COVER Filed July 26, 1965 I 1 INVENTOR.
' \QBIUIMQM ATTORNEY 3,298,035 HAER CURLER HEAD COVER Cathie .l. Gohins, Phoenix, Ariz., assignor to Fred Rhoades, Scottsdale, Ariz. Filed July 26, 1965., Ser. No. 474,644 1 (Ilaim. (Cl. 2-198) This invention pertains to headdress and is particularly directed to a hair curler head cover.
One of the objects of this invention is to provide a head cover for the hair when put up in curlers.
Another object is to provide a cover for the head in curlers so that the wearer may go everywhere, do everything in complete confidence that the curlers will not show or mar the appearance.
Still another object is to provide a curler cover for the head that is satisfactory for wet hair after swimming and shampooing.
Also an object is to provide a curler cover for the head that is feminine and appealing in appearance and always in good style and taste.
Another object is to provide a curler cover for the hair put up in curlers which is easy to slip on and quick to remove in emergency meeting with callers and the sudden arrival of guests.
The object is to provide a cover up for the hair in curlers usable for every occasionshopping, sports, luncheons, entertaining or around the house.
A further object is to provide a head cover for the hair which is highly satisfactory for sports-car and convertible driving, at the beach, by the pool or on the golf course, or wherever wind-tousling and sun-baking of the hair is a problem Further features and advantages of this invention will appear from a detailed description of the drawings in which:
FIG. 1 is a stretched out view of the basic sheet of material utilized to form the hair curler head cover of this invention.
FIG. 2 is a folded view, partly broken away, of the sewed up cover of FIG. 1.
FIG. 3 is a view partly in section showing the cover in gathered and tied-up condition.
FIG. 4 is an outside view of the cover showing the securing ring attached to the cover.
FIG. 5 is a view showing the cover being Worn on the head of the user.
As an example of one embodiment of this invention there is shown a hair curler head cover, indicated generally at 10, comprising a quarter segment 11 of suitable material having two radially disposed edges 12 and 13 issuing from a center of intersection 14 with the edges 12 and 13 oriented at substantially right angles 15 to each other and with their outer ends 16 and 17 circumferentially spaced along the peripheral edge 18 of the quarter segment 11.
The intermediate portion of the tie back cord 22 between its ends 211 and 21 is fixed at 19 to the peripheral edge 18 of the segment 11. Preferably, a reinforcing quarter segment piece 23, smaller than the quarter segment 11, is sewed along the edges 12 and 13 of the large quarter segment 11 at 24 and 25 and along its periphery at 26 to the quarter segment 11. The edges 12 and 13 are then 3,298fi35 Patented Jan. 17, 1967 folded over each other along line 27, FIGS. 1 and 2, with the tie cord '22 inside of the folded over segments 11a which are then sewed together along the line 25a with the edges 12 and 13 left unsewed and open.
In readying the cover for placement on the head, the cover 10 is gathered in neat folds 29, FIG. 3, along the line of peripheral sewing 25a and the tie cord 22 tied in a suitable knot or bow 28 to be placed at the back of the neck. The cover is then placed over the head and a suitable tightening ring 30 is frictionally placed about the reinforced end 23 of the cover at the forehead of the wearer to take up excess material and secure the cover to the head of the wearer.
While the apparatus herein disclosed and described constitutes a preferred form of the invention, it is also to be understood that the apparatus is capable of mechanical alteration without departing from the spirit of the invention and that such mechanical arrangement and commercial adaptation as fall within the scope of the appendent claim are intended to be included herein.
Having thus fully set forth and described this invention what is claimed and desired to he obtained by United States Letters Patent is:
A hair curler head cover comprising in combination:
(A) a quarter segment'shaped sheet of material having,
(B) a pair of radially disposed edges intersecting at right angles to each other and issuing from the center of intersection,
(C) an arcuate peripheral edge between the outer ends of said pair of radially disposed edges,
(D) a reinforcing quarter segment-shaped piece smaller than said quarter segment-shaped sheet of material secured along its edges to said center of intersection and along a portion of the length of each of said pair of radially disposed edges,
(E) a tie b-ack cord secured centrally of its length to the midpoint of said peripheral edge,
(F) said quarter segment-shaped sheet of material being centrally folded upon itself along a line defined between said center of intersection and said midpoint of said peripheral edge to form two folded-over segments with one end of said tie back cord therebetween and the other end exterior thereof,
(G) the arcuate peripheral edges of said two foldedover segments being stitched together throughout the lengths thereof,
(H) and a tightening ring frictionally secured about a portion of said quarter segment shaped sheet of material containing said reinforcing quarter segment piece.
