Description

- Dec. 26, 1967 J. w. PRICE 3,360,027
TICKET AND MONEY HOLDER Filed April 22, 1965 39 James 14 Price INVENTOR ATTORNEY United States Patent 3,360,027 TICKET AND MONEY HOLDER James W. Price, 3300 71st St. N., St. Petersburg, Fla. 33702 Filed Apr. 22, 1965, Ser. No. 450,025 1 Claim. (Cl. 15039) The present invention relates to ticket and money holders for use at race tracks and particularly dog race tracks, and in particular a relatively small pocket-book or pouch having a plurality of pockets in one end and a single pocket in one side and wherein the pocket at the end may be used for tickets whereas the pocket in one side may be used for folded paper money.
The purpose of this invention is to provide a money and ticket holder in which money for placing bets particularly in dog racing, is maintained in separate pockets, and thereby segregated in denominations suitable for race tracks.
Various types of pocket-books, pouches, folders, and the like, have been developed for carrying paper money, such as bills, tickets, cards, and the like, and although such devices are suitable for carrying cards, conventional money, and the like, they do not satisfy the requirements of readily available money for use at race tracks and particularly dog tracks.
The object of this invention is, therefore, to provide a relatively small, compartmented holder in which tickets are inserted and removed from pockets at one end and folded paper money is similarly inserted in and removed from one side.
Another object of the invention is to provide a ticket and money holder from which articles are readily removed.
Another important object of the invention is to provide a ticket and money holder in which tickets and money of certain denominations are removed from the holder without looking toward the holder.
It is yet another object of the invention to provide a ticket and money holder which may also be used as a change purse.
A further object of the invention is to provide a holder for tickets and money in which outer surfaces of the holder may be used for advertising.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a holder for conventional paper money and tickets in which the holder is of simple and economical construction.
Other and further objects and advantages of the present invention will be apparent from the following detailed description, drawing and claims, the scope of the invention not being limited to the illustration of the drawing as the drawing is only for the purpose of illustrating a method by which the principles of this invention can be applied.
Other embodiments of the invention utilizing the same or equivalent principles may be used and structural changes may be made as desired by those skilled in the art without departing from the present invention and the purview of the appended claims.
Other features and advantages of the invention will appear from the following description taken in connection with the drawing, wherein:
FIGURE 1 is a perspective view illustrating the design and arrangement of the ticket and money holder in which edges of pockets at the upper end of the holder are arcuate.
FIGURE 2 is a sectional plan through the holder, taken on line 2-2 of FIGURE 1.
FIGURE 3 is an exploded view showing the elements of the ticket and money holder.
FIGURE 4 is a view showing a modification wherein v 3,360,027 Patented Dec. 26, 1967 the outer edges of the pockets in the end of the holder are inclined instead of arcuate.
FIGURE 5 is a sectional plan taken on line 5- 5 of FIGURE 4 showing the holder assembly. P
FIGURE 6- is an exploded view showing the blank from which the holder is formed.
While one embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the above-referre-d-to drawing, it is to be understood that it is merely for the purpose of illustration and that various changes in construction may be resorted to in the course of manufacture in order that the invention may be utilized to the best advantage according to circumstances which may arise, without in any manner departing from the spirit and intention of the device, which is to be limited only in accordance with the appended claims.
And while there is stated the primary field of utility of the invention it remains obvious that it may be employed in any other capacity wherein it may be found applicable.
In the accompanying drawing, and in the following specification, the same reference characters are used to designate the same parts and elements throughout and in which the numeral 10 refers to a sheet of material folded on a line 11, providing a front panel 12 and a rear panel 13, and the panels 12 and 13 provide a cover for a filler 14 having a front panel 15 and a rear panel 16, being folded on a line 17.
With the filler 14 in the cover, as illustrated in FIG- URES 2 and 3, the edges 18 of the panel 12 are secured by stitches 19 to an edge 20 of the panel 15; and the edge 21 of the panel 13 is secured by stitches 22 to the edge 23- of the panel 16.
The upper edges of the panels 12 and 13, and 15 and 16 are stitched together from the points 23 to the points 24 and also from the points 25 to the points 26 at the op providing openings 27 and 38 with arcuate lower edges 29 and 30 and through which tickets, and the like, may be inserted in and removed from the pockets. The lower edges of the panels 12, 13, 15 and 16 are secured together by stitches 31 closing lower ends of the pockets.
In the design shown in FIGURES 4, 5 and 6 a sheet of material 32 is folded on a line 33, forming panels 34 and 35, and the panel 34 is folded on the line 36 forming panels 37 and 38. The panel 35 is also folded on a line 39 providing panels 40 and 41 in the upper part of the holder.
With the panels folded, as shown in FIGURE 5 and secured in the folded position by stitches 42 pockets 43 and 44 are provided in the upper end of the holder and a pocket 45 is provided in one side. With the parts of the ticket and money holder of the design shown in FIGURE 4, assembled as shown the edges 46 of outer panels 41 and 3-8 are inclined as shown in FIGURE 4.
From the foregoing description, it is thought to be obvious that a ticket and money holder constructed in accordance with this invention is particularly well adapted for use, by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and used, and it will also be obvious that the invention is susceptible of some change and modification without departing from the principles and spirit thereof, and for this reason it is not desired to be limited to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out the invention in practice, except as claimed.
What is claimed is:
In a paper money holder, the combination which comprises a sheet of material folded on a line midway of the length thereof providing a front panel and a rear panel with depending arcuate recesses in the upper edges thereof, and a filler also having a front panel and a rear panel and folded to correspond with said folded sheet of material, said filler being positioned within said sheet with the fold of the filler adjacent said folded portion of the sheet, said filler and sheet being stitched together along some of the remaining edges to provide pockets between said filler front and rear panels and between said filler and sheet, said pockets between said filler and sheet having openings solely at said edge containing said arcuate recesses and the pocket between said filler front and 'rear panels having an opening solely at the edge opposite said fold line.
