FLOUR-BOLT.
:SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 339.723. dated April 13. 1886.
Application filed September 1, 1885. Serial No. 175,581.
To all whom, t may concern:
Be it known that I, FRIEDRICH. GEORG WINKLER, of Zsehopau, in the Empire of Germany, have invented a new and Improved Flour-Bolt, of which the following specification is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to a machine for bolting flour in which air is alternately forced against and sucked from the bolting-cloth. The air, in heilig forced against the boltingcloth, carries the meal with it and effects the sieviug Operation. The suction has for its object to open the meshes of the cloth from particles that may clog the same.
The invention consists in the elements of improvement hereinafter more fully pointed out.
In the accompanying sheets of drawings, Figure l is a vertical central section of a flourbolt embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a similar section of a modification. Fig. 3 is a horizontal section on the line tra?, Fig. 2. Fig. 4 isaverlical central section of another modilication. Fig 5 is a horizontal section on line yy, Fie 4f NVith particular reference to Fig. 1, the letter a represents the bolting-cloth, arranged in an inclined position. b is the hopper for discharging the meal into a chamber, c, in front ofsuch cloth. Into this chamber enter a large number of nozzles, d, from an air-pipe, e, which is connected to a force and suction pump, such as shown at h in Fig. 2, which alternately forces air through and sucks it back from the cloth a by means of nozzles d.

f is the chamber back of cloth a, that receives the Hour, and g is a slide or openingat the bottom of chamber c, through which the ofl'al may be removed.
The air should be forced through the cloth a with greater power than that with which it is sucked back, and this maybe done by a suitable valve on the pump.
In Figs. 2 and 3 the air-pipe eis shown to be placed within the frame of the machine, and the pump h is shown.
In Figs. 4 and 5 the boltingcloth a is shown to be made of cylindrical form, and the air is introduced by means of a stationary or revolving central upright pipe, e, havingaseries of openings and connecting to a suitable pump or compressor, h.
I claim as my invention- 1. The combination of bolting-cloth a and hopper b with the air-pump c and means whereby an air-current is alternately forced against land sucked from the cloth a, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
2. The combination of boltil'ig-eloth a and hopper b with the pipe c and the nozzles d, and with a force and suction pump, h, connected to pipe e, substantially as specitled.
