T.-V. WALLACE.
HARNESS SNAP.
Patented Sept. 20, 1892.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
THOMAS V. WALLACE, OF MONONGAHELA CITY, PENNSYLVANIA.
HARNESS-SNAP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 482,885, dated September 20, 1892.
Application filed November 21, 1891. Serial No. 412,680. (N 0 model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS V. WALLACE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Monongahela City, in the county of Washington and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Snaps for Harness; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as willenable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improved harness-snap; and it consistsin certain details of construction and combination of parts, as will be fully described hereinafter.
In the accompanying drawings, Figurel is a side elevation of my improved snap, which is constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same.
To construct a harnesssnap in accordance with my invention, I form a hook 1 of a suitable size, having an eye 2 to connect the same to the harness. Attached to the point of the hook 1 by means of an opening 3 is a ring 4, which rests against a shoulder 6, formed on the inner surface of the hook 1. Formed 0pposite the point of the hook 1 is an opening 7, through which another ring8 is placed, which will prevent the hook from being disengaged from the ring 9 or other object, should the said hook be inverted. The first-described ring will prevent the hook from becoming disengaged when the same is in a position such as shown at Fig. 1 on the drawings.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, lS
The herein-described snap-hook having shoulders on its opposite sides and rings adapted to close the opening of said hook, one of said rings being pivoted to the point of said hook on one side of said opening and the other ring pivoted to the hook on the opposite side of said opening, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I hereunto affix my signature this 15th day of September, A. D. 1891.
THOMAS V. WALLACE. [L. s]
In presence of H. E. HARRISON, CHARLES LARGE.
