To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, ARTHUR HENRY STAN- BURY, J12, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain, residing at Liverpool, in the county of Lancaster, England, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brushes for Cleaning Cycle Driving-Chains, of which the following is a specification.

Hitherto brushes for cleaning the drivingchains of cycles have been designed to clean the spaces between the links where the teeth of the sprocket-wheels go, the remainder of the chain being left untouched by the brush.

Now my present invention has for its object to avoid this defect and to provide a device which will clean not only between the links of the chains inside or in the spaces in which the teeth of the sprocket-wheels go, but will simultaneously clean the outside of the chain besides.

The invention will be understood from the following description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a front view of the invention applied to a driving-chain; Fig. 2, an inverted plan of the brush.

Referring to the figures, I provide a Vertical brush A, mounted on a framework or handle B, adapted to clean in the spaces O of the driving-chain which are adapted to receive the teeth of the sprocket-wheels-that is to say, between the blocks D of the chain, which are coupled together by the links E. This brush A may be made taper 01' of any suitable shape. On the same frame or handle 13 and permanently attached thereto I provide two other brushes F, facing each other, but in a different vertical plane to that of the Serial No. 684,093. (No model.)

other brush A and so arranged as to clean the outside of the chain. These latter brushes may be flat and so made as to conform to the configuration of that part of the chain which they are required to clean. A device of this kind, therefore, will clean all the parts of the driving-chain that more especially require attention, and it will form a very useful, if not an essentiaharticle of furniture of a cyclists kit.

I declare that what I claim is 1. A brush adapted for cleaning the chains of cycles, comprising a handle and three brushes attached thereto with their longer axes substantially parallel, said brushes being so spaced that when one is passed down through an opening of the chain the others will brush the respective outer sides of the chain, substantially as set forth.

2. A brush adapted for cleaning the chains of cycles, comprising a suitable handle, a brush A, attached thereto and adapted to be passed through the apertures in the chain, and the two brushes F, also fixed to said handle and facing each other, the brush A being exterior to the space between the brushes F, but opposite to said space, whereby when the brush A is passed through an opening in the chain the brushes F will bear on the respective outer faces of the chain, substantially as set forth.
