Be it known that I, WILLIARD @.WILLIAMS, a citizen ofthe United States, residing at Benton Harbor, in the county of Berrien'and State of Michigan, have invented new and useful Improvements in StoVepipe-I'Ioldersmf which the following is a specilication.

My invention relates to stovepipe-holders for holding` stovepipesections to a iiue or chimney wherebythe pipe is prevented from being passed too far into the chimney or iiue or being` accidentally withdrawn therefrom.

The object oi the invention is to provide an improved construction of the same whereby I secure superior advantages with respect. to efficiency in use.

The invention consists in the novel con struction and combination of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure I is a vertical sectional view of a chimney or flue, showing a section of stovepipe connected therewith by means of my improvements. Fig. 2 is a perspective View of the holder removed from the pipe. Figs. 3 and 4 are detail views of the holder, showing the collar and the arms disconnected. Fig. 5 is a detail perspective view of the split ring. Fig. 6 is a detail perspective view of the collar. Fig. 7 is a detail perspective view of a portion of the ring and engaging lugs.

In the said drawings the reference-n umeral l designates the chimney or fine of a building of any ordinary or suitable description, provided with the usual opening 2, communicating with a room. The numeral 3 designates a section of stovepipe inserted in said opening.

The numeral 4E designates the holder comprising the collar 5 and arms 6 (5a, the latter of which have their free ends bent into double hooks 7 for the purpose hereinafter described.

.The said collar comprises an inner circular face 8 and an outer flaring rim 9, stamped out of a single piece of metal. The arm 6 is secured at one end to the face S at l in any suitable manner, and a split ring l0 is also secured at the same point of attachment to the arm of the rim 9. The arm 6 is secured to the rim 9 by lugs 16, which are bent to lie against the face 8 and the innersurface of the rim .l. The split ring lO has two projections ll, upon the ends of which the lugs I3 are formed and bent at right angles to the projections ll. The lugs 13 are provided with registered perforations for the securing-bolt 14, held by nut l5. 'lhe projections 'll are passed through a slot or opening 12 in the face 8 and occupy a position on the outside of the rim f). rlhe contiguous edges of the projections 1 l lie upon the outer face of the arm (i, and the ring l0 is held in place by lugs or ears 17, formed ou the arm (5 and bent upward to bear upon the inner edge of the ring l0, as shown in Fig. 2. The manner of using the device is as fol lows: The arms C (5 are passed through the flue or chimney opening, with thc hooks 7 engaging with the wall of the i'lue or chimney and the collar resiing against the wallandthe screw-bolt 14E loosened. The stovepipe is then pushed through the collar into the said opening, and the end coming in contact with the bent ends of the arms (i 6 the movement will be limited, so that the pipe cannot be pushed too far into the flue or chimney. The screwbolt 14 is then tightened, which causes the ring 10 to securely clamp the pipe and hold it to the collar. The collar cannot become accidentally disengaged, because the bent ends of the arms 6 6 engage with the inner side of the liue or chimney adjacent to thc said opening. By this means the collar is securely heid in place and the pipe secured lio the collar. To remove the pipe, the screwbolt is loosened, when it can be withdrawn. The collar can then be removed, if necessary, by disengaging its ends from the wall of the flue or chimney.
