Description

, PATENTED APR. 5, 1904.
T. van WOBESER. noon HANDLE SHIELD.
APPLIOATION FILED FEB. 26. 1901.
H0 IODBL.
UNITED STATES Patented April 5, 1904.
THEODOR VON WOBESER, OF HAMBURG, GERMANY.
DOOR-HANDLE SHIELD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N0. 756,447, dated April 5, 1904.
Application filed February 26, 1901. Serial No. 48,984. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, Tnnonon VON WOBESER, merchant, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Catherinenstrasse 4:0, Hamburg, in the Empire of Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Door-Handle Shields, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My present invention relates to improvements in door-lock casings, and has for its object a simple and effective attachment of the outer shield-plates to the inner plates of the casing.
In the accompanying drawings, Figures 1, 2, and 3 are central longitudinal sections of my improved lock casing under diflerent modifications.
In Fig. 1, e 6 represent the inner plates of ceive the lock mechanism. On each side of the said inner casing e a there is provided a shield-plate a and 7), respectively. The said four plates (0 Z) a e are provided with a plurality of openings correspondingly arranged in such a manner that a corresponding plurality of bolts 0 may be passed through the said four plates in order to firmly hold them together. Each of the outer shield-plates a and Z) is held at a certain distance from the adjacent inner plate 6 by means of hollow studs (Z, projecting from the inner side of said shield-plates. In order to close the openings in the plates 6, there are provided short screw-threaded plugs 70.
In the construction shown in Fig. 2 there are separate sleeve-studs d screwed into the plates at and b. The inner casing-plates are provided with short tubes g, which are made in one piece with such plates or rigidly secured thereto.
In the modification shown in Fig. 3 the inner plates 0 e are held at a certain distance from each other by means of tubes 9, which are loosely interposed between said plates. The studs cl for the shield-plate a are dispensed with, and the shield-plate a is kept at a dis tance from the adjacent plate 6 by the material of the door itself.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A doorlock casing having inner casingplates spaced apart, outer shield-plates, said inner casing-plates and shield -plates being provided with registering openings, sets of tubular spacers secured to the shield-plates and bearing against the inner casing-plates in register with said openings, one of said sets of spacers being internally threaded, bolts extending through said inner plates, one of the shield-plates and the other set of spacers, having their heads disposed on the outer side'of one shield-plate and having their threaded shanks entering the said threaded spacers on the other shield-plate. and screw-plugs closing the outer ends of the bores of the threaded spacers, substantially as described.
In witness whereof I subscribe my signature in presence of two witnesses.
THEODOR VON WOBESER. Witnesses:
