Be it known that I, AN'roN'F. ANDERSON, a subject of the King of Sweden, and a resident of Steger, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Reinforced Con crete Slabs, of which the following is a speci fication.
This invention relates to a reinforced concrete slab for sidewalks, and the like, and has for its object to provide a simple and econom ical structural arrangement and combination of parts affording a maximum degree of strength with a minimum amount of material, all as will hereinafter more fully appear.
In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1, is a vertical section on line Fig. 2, of a reinforced concrete slab embodying the pres ent invention. Fig. 2, is a bottom plan of the same, with parts in section on line m r Fig. 1.

As represented in the drawing the concrete portion of the present improved slab comprises a comparatively thin center or web portion 1, and a depending marginal portion .2 adapted to afford the requisite strength to the slab with a minimum amount of material, and. which at the sanie time provides a cavity in the underside of the slab to afford means for readily bedding and anchoring the slab in place. And with a view to aid in the bedding operation of the slab, the vertical faces of the marginal portion 2 will havea beveled or inclined form as shown, and such form also permits of the ready drawing of the slab from the mold in the manufacture of the slab.

nection as illustrated in Fig. 2. Such reinforce members are embedded during the process of manufacture in the upper part of the marginal slab portion 2, and with their top surfaces on a plane with the mid-height of the slab center 1, as shown in Fig. 1.
4 is a sheet of wire fabric arranged at the mid height of the slab center 1, and with the margins of said fabric resting loosely upon the top surfaces of the tubular reinforce members 3, to afford added strength to the slab center.
Having thus fully described my said invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A reinforced concrete sidewalk slab comprising a thin center portion, depending marginal portions, straight metal reinforce members in rectangular relation and arranged in said marginal portion with their upper surfaces on a plane with the mid height of the slab center, and with their ends in abutting unattached relation and a sheet of wire fabric resting loosely on the top of said reinforce members and embedded in the slab center, for the purpose set forth.
2. A reinforced concrete sidewalk slab comprising a thin center portion, depending marginal portions, straight tubular reinforce members in rectangular relation and ar ranged in said marginal portions with their up er surfaces on a plane with the midheight of the slab center, and with their ends in abutting unattached relation and a sheet of wire fabric resting loosely on the top of said reinforce members and embedded in the slab center, for the purpose set forth.
