To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, STEPHEN W'ooDs, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Rye, W'estchester county, New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sanitary. Cases for Toilet Articles and other Uses, of which the follow ing is a specification, accompanied by drawmgs.

This invention relates to sanitary cases for holding and retaining in position articles separated from each other, as for instance, the parts of a safety razor and the box of extra blades, although the invention may be used for any articles to which it is adapted.

The objects of the invention are to insure sanitary conditions in the case, while at the same time afi'ording a simple and compact holder for a safety razor or for other articles of the toilet, to provide means for clamping the articles in the case so that they will not fall out, and to afford provision for the removal of the inside partitions of the case for cleaning purposes.

To these ends, the invention consists of the sanitary case substantially as hereinafter fully described and claimed in this specification and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a top plan view of the case with the cover open and the articles in position in the case; Fig. 2 is a view similar to Fig. 1 with the articles removed; and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a portion of the side of the case and the spring partition.

Referring to the drawings, A represents the body of the case which is substantially rectangular in shape and of shallow depth, and B is the cover preferably hinged to the body. The clasp C is of any usual construction provided with the spring I). Preferably the edges E of the body project inwardly, forming an overhanging retaining lip to aid in holding the cross partition and the articles in position, although this overhanging lip is not an essential feature of the invention and may be dispensed with if desired.

The cross partition preferably comprises a double angled spring member having the central web F and the longer spring arm G and shorter spring arm H, each arm being provided with an ear or tab I and J adapted to engage the cleats K and L at the sides of the box to hold the partition in position. As shown, the partition lies transversely across the case with the central web extending longitudinally. It will be seen that the partition has a slight longitudinal adjustment and preferably the central web F is crimped at L to aiford greater resiliency. The arm H is preferably bent into U-shaped form, as shown, to form a socket member for holding the handle 0 of the razor or other elongated part.

The box P for the extra razor blades is preferably placed in the case in the position shown and is-held against one end of the case by the spring pressure of the curved arm G. The other end of the case is preferably provided with the extra lip Q, and the head R of the razor is slipped under this extra lip Q and clamped between the arm G and the end of the case.

It will be seen that the box of blades P, which of course, may be any other suitable toilet article or article of any desired kind, is pressed both longitudinally and transversely by the action of the spring partition, the elongated article or handle is gripped tightly in the socket H and the member R which may be the head of a safety razor or any other suitable article is securely clamped between the spring member G and the end of the case. The construction is such that the cover of the case may be opened and the case turned upside down without permitting the articles to fall out.

The entire construction is simple and sanitary, because the entire contents of the case and the partition may be removed for cleaning purposes. All the articles are arranged flat in the case instead of on end, so that the case may be made very shallow as shown by the height indicated in Fig. 3, which is an advantage for traveling purposes.

I claim and desire to obtain by Letters Patent the following 1. As a new article of manufacture, a 100 sanitary case for holding and retaining in position articles separated from each other, comprising a box, and a removable spring partition therefor having a central web and outwardly extending arms, said partition 105 being adapted to lie in the box with the central web extending longitudinally, and the arms lying transversely across the box, one arm being. bent to form a spring retaining socket.

2. As a new article of manufacture, a sanitary case for holding and retaining in position articles separated from eachother, comprising a shallow rectangular box, having inwardly projecting edges forming an overhanging retaining lip, and a removable transverse resilient partition, held under said lip at the sides of the box and dividing the box into two compartments, said partition being provided with a spring socket member ailording provision for the longitudinal reception within the box of an elongated article. v

As a new article of manufacture, a sanitary case for holding and retaining in position articles separated from each other, comprising a shallow rectangular box having inwardly projecting edges forming an overhanging retaining lip and a transverse spring partition adapted to be removably held at each end under said lip and adjustable longitudinally, said partition comprising a central web and lateral arms, one of said arms having gripping means for receiving and holding an elongated article longitudinally within the box.

4. As a new article of manufacture, a sanitary case for holding and detaining in position articles separated from each other, comprising a shallow box having inwardly projecting edges forming an overhanging retaining 11p, and a removable transverse spring partition adapted to cooperate with the retaining lip to hold the articles within the box, said partition comprising a central web and transverse arms extending outwardly from the ends of the web, one of said arms having a spring socket for retaining an elongated article longitudinally within the box.
