DESIGN FOR A NOZZLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,692, dated May 24=, 1898.
Application filed April 3, 1898. fierial No. 676,961. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, J ACOB A. THOMAS and WILLIAM W. DRIsooLL,citizens of the United States, residing at Reading, in the county of Berks and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Nozzles; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective View of a nozzle embodying our design, and Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal section through the same.
The leading feature of our design consists of a cylindrical hollow body portion flaring outwardly from a suitable point in its length and from said point flaring rearwardly to form a shoulder, another shoulder being formed at the extreme end of the nozzle in the rear of the first-n1entioned shoulder, with a peripheral groove or recess between the two shoulders, the bore extending through the entire length of the nozzle.
A in the drawings represents a nozzle made in accordance with our design,which is formed with a cylindrical hollow body portion a, the bore extending the entire length of the nozzle. The body portion of the nozzle flares outwardly from a point, as at a, in its length to its extreme end a thus forming a flaring cylindrical mouth or discharge end. From the point a the body portion of the nozzle flares rearwardly to form a shoulder a Another shoulder a is formed on the extreme rear end of the nozzle in rear of the shoulder (13, with a peripheral groove or recess a between them.
