DESIGN FOR A CARPET-STRETCHER PLATE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,943, dated June 1898- Application filed May 31, 1898- Serial No. 682,215. Term of patent 14 years.

ORTON, residing in the townof Goldwater, (Hodunk P. 0.,) in the Ityof Branch, State of Michigan, citizens re United States, have invented a new and inal Design for a Carpet-Stretcher Plate, hich the following is a specification. IlS invention relates to a new and original gn for a carpetstretcher plate; and it has ts object to provide a design of this charr which shall be both useful and ornatal. 1e leading feature of the design resides in t rectangular plate provided on one face eof with parallel transverse rows of taper; ipur projections disposed obliquely in the a direction and with oblong openings alating with the transverse rows of projec- 1e minor features of the design are havthe obliquely-disposed spur projections rounded or conical form, the oblong opennext to the ends of the plate formed with rrdly-projecting lobes at their ends, and remaining oblong openings formed in a tantially elliptical shape.

Referring to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates a flat rectangular skeleton plate, provided on one face thereof with parallel transverse rows of tapering spur projections 2. The spur projections 2 of each transverse row thereof are disposed obliquelyin the same direction and are of a rounded orconical form, and in the spaces intervening between the transverse rows of teeth the plate 1 is provided with oblong openings 3. All of the oblong openings 3, excepting those next to the ends of the plate, are of an approximately elliptical shape, while said openings next to the ends of the plate are bounded at their ends by inwardly-projected lobes 4, forming an integral part of the plate.
