Abstract
A new colour developer compsn. comprises phenolic material (a), an aromatic carboxylate component (b) and divalent Zn where: (a) is a colour developer contg. min. 3.4 (pref. min. 20.4) wt% phenolic gp; (b) is carboxylic acid(s) with free acid log Kow at least 2.9 (pref. at least 3.8) (Kow = octanol/water partition coefft.). The compsn. has colour forming efficiency of at least 95 and solvent resistance of at least 30%. Prepn. of the compsn. as a homogeneous mixt. and record sheet incorporating the compsn. are also claimed.
