The British Hair Consortium, which represents 50,000 hairdressing professionals, is calling on the government to make changes to how they are taxed, saying the current system poses an "existential crisis".

John McMahon, the co-owner of the hairdressing salon in Dublin, where Ms Hand worked, said she had returned to work after the incident but had struggled and resigned in May 2019.

The judgement also involves five other policy holders, including restaurant, catering, fitness and hairdressing businesses, as well as the London International Exhibition Centre.

A T-level in hairdressing, barbering and beauty therapy was due to begin in 2023, but was delayed before eventually being scrapped altogether.
