Five single-decker vehicles, which required two drivers on board even when operating autonomously, have been making the 14-mile journey between Ferrytoll park and ride in Fife and Edinburgh Park train and tram interchange.

It had once been a double-decker, but - when new regulations imposed height limitations on these because of their propensity to overturn in an accident - it was converted into a single-decker.

West Yorkshire Police said the collision, which happened at around 19:00 BST, involved a black Skoda Fabia and an Iris single-decker minibus.

BBC Radio Manchester reporter Mat Trewern said he could see the single-decker blue bus "sticking out right across the pavement".

It showed the single-decker bus slowing down and appearing "almost stationary" when it crashed through the guardrail and fell, he said.
