While the autopsy report did not specifically cite the “laughing gas” as a cause of death, it noted the canisters appeared ready to be inhaled, and raised concerns of a possible overdose.

They placed fire-damaged compressed-gas tanks in a row on the front lawn and marked each canister with a white “X,” an indication the fuel had already been burnt.

But the battering continued until the officers found a small space through which they threw a tear-gas canister into the one-roomed house, forcing the family out.

“And in addition to the wind roaring, there were very loud reports we could hear in the background, which we surmised to be exploding canisters of fuel for barbecues and outdoor space heater,” he added.

They’re handing out pamphlets with information about the fires, along with masks, disposable oxygen canisters, food and other supplies.
