"Not only is China the big exporter, it is sometimes the only exporter like for solar panels. If you want solar panels you can only go to China," Ms Garcia-Herrero said.

Lesotho is one of sub-Saharan Africa's largest exporters of clothing to the US.

He said that while costs will certainly increase, the amount will depend on how much exporters, importers, wholesalers, retailers and grocers absorb the extra cost.

“The exemption enables Ukrainian steel exporters to sustain their operations, contribute to the national budget and support the broader Ukrainian economy.”
