Some locals have wondered whether a ferry service could be launched, to deliver day trippers from Santa Monica Pier to Malibu Pier — an alternative that the city tried during a major landslide decades ago.

A 28-year-old man remains in custody in France after being arrested at a ferry port on Wednesday, also on suspicion of murder, Cleveland Police said.
