After a brief montage of clips from Los Angeles-set films, Grande serenaded audiences with “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” before handing the spotlight to Erivo, who performed a beautiful rendition of “Home” from “The Wiz.”

Then Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande burned down the house with songs from “Wicked,” “The Wiz” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” from that movie your kids will like less than “Wicked,” but which you should show them anyway.

The co-stars performed a medley of songs, including Somewhere Over the Rainbow, which Grande sang to open the show wearing a gorgeous red sequined dress.

The Oscars ceremony opens with a cinematic paean to Los Angeles, then Ariana Grande sings “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”

Grande first delivered a moonlit rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” which Judy Garland famously sang as Dorothy in the movie “The Wizard of Oz.”
