In Fiona Simpson’s Sherman Oaks bedroom, a warm and art-filled space teeming with baskets of yarn and colorful weavings, a Leclerc floor loom from the 1980s occupies nearly as much area as her queen-size bed.

Her queen-size bed is a hand-me-down from a friend.

On the upper level is an all-in-one kitchen, living and dining area, as well as the primary bedroom, which barely contains a queen-size mattress, and the cabanon’s lone bathroom.

On either side is a bedroom with a queen-size mattress and a pair of bunks.

In large bedrooms, it may be possible to build bunks that are wide enough to accommodate full- or queen-size mattresses.
