Fiction

2019 IDW continuity

After the Titan Croaton had been overtaken by Exarchon, fellow Titan Citadel was forced to destroy him with an imploder. Titans

When Vigilem destroyed the Tether and left Cybertron's orbit, the Technical Specialists were tasked with hunting him down aboard Lodestar. They brought an imploder along as a precaution, something that made Lodestar and her Cityspeaker Lightbright extremely uncomfortable. After finding Vigilem docked at the colony of Hexagon, things escalated and Lodestar was forced to engage the rogue Titan. Despite a heavy combat refit, Lodestar was still in danger of being overwhelmed by Vigilem, and Lightbright reluctantly ordered her partner to use the imploder. Enclosing it in her fist, Lodestar punched the imploder into Vigilem's torso and activated it. Lodestar lost her arm in the process, but Vigilem's body was ripped asunder and his shredded remains drifted into a nearby star. Light/Star

When Zetar's team discovered Exarchon's hidden fortress in the Sonic Canyons, an imploder was among its deadly store of weapons. War's End Part Two Ordered to the Canyons by Megatron, Skywarp discovered the fortress and the imploder, claiming it for the Decepticons. War's End Part Four

Setting the imploder's timer for one second, Fate of Cybertron Skywarp teleported in front of Optimus Prime's convoy and used the threat of the imploder to hold them in place until the rest of the Decepticons arrived. End of Time

When the Decepticons arrived, Optimus and Megatron came to blows, Skywarp using the imploder to deter any Autobots who tried to interfere. When Computron arrived, Skywarp lowered his guard, allowing Jumpstream to tackle him and teleport both away. Rematerializing in unspace, Skywarp found himself atomically intermingled with the imploder and his energon vented. As Jumpstream left for the universe, she warned him that if he somehow managed to return to normal space, the imploder would detonate. Fate of Cybertron

Notes

  • The imploder that appears in Transformers #43 is drawn as a stereotypical "Fat Man"-style bomb, rather than its usual appearance. Artist Juan Samu must have mistakenly assumed one had never appeared before.
