The Tamil Nadu Cauvery Farmers Protection Association has made an appeal to the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai to take up with the Prime Minister the plea for extending Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana benefits to tenant farmers too.
A team of office-bearers and members of the association who met the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister at Raipur on March 12 submitted a memorandum to him pointing out that around 2 crore sharecroppers/tenant farmers across the country have not been given an opportunity to avail the annual financial assistance of ₹6,000 under the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana scheme.
While exhorting the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister to take up the issue with the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, the Association sought his support to the farmers’ demand for enhancement of the financial assistance under the scheme considering the increase in input cost and cost of cultivation.
The Association also hailed Mr.Vishnu Deo Sai for providing a minimum support price of ₹3,100 per quintal of paddy procured from the Chhattisgarh State farmers this season.
