Andhra Pradesh Revenue Minister A. Satya Prasad said in reply to a question on land registrations and mutations in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday that the NDA government was carrying out the resurvey of lands meticulously keeping in view the lapses that had taken place during the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) dispensation’s term.

Mr. Satya Prasad said that due attention was being paid to sorting out issues pertaining to the preparation of joint Land Parcel Maps (LPMs). Otherwise, there were no major difficulties in the registration of lands. Ninety-eight percent of the land-related complaints received in the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) were resolved, he said, and pointed out that the listing of multiple landowners under a single LPM was a stumbling block in the process of registrations and mutations.

To solve this problem, the government introduced online subdivision of citizen services at the village and ward secretariats to split joint LPMs, thereby making them registration-friendly. The government issued orders exempting landowners from fees for six months starting January 1, 2025, on subdivision of lands.

Further, the Minister said the previous government had done resurvey in 6,688 villages, but it was replete with errors, and basically no notices were issued to the landowners regarding the re-survey.

The present government resumed the re-survey of lands on January 20 by selecting one village per mandal as a pilot project in order to ensure that the process was smooth and devoid of discrepancies.

Notices were issued to all the landowners, including those owning the contiguous lands, to resolve any dispute on the spot, to the extent possible. Besides, WhatsApp groups were created for all the landowners in a block to provide regular updates, he said.
