Finnish Police emptied a scheduled SAS flight of its passengers, crew and cargo on Saturday after an anonymous bomb threat was received at the Helsinki Airport. The threat was directed at route SK709 from Helsinki to Stockholm, leaving from gate 13 at 2:45 pm.
The Eastern Uusimaa Police Department says an exhaustive search of the Cityjet Bombardier CRJ-900 passenger plane found no evidence of an explosive. The police received word of the bomb threat at 2:12 pm and their investigation was over by 3:50 pm. The flight was cancelled.
Senior constable Elmeri Kuikka told the news agency STT that the police will release more information about the incident on Monday.
The bomb threat was first reported by the tabloid Ilta-Sanomat.
