The local Zimbabwe news site Zimlive reported Friday that four Finnish tourists were killed in a plane crash. However other media have reported that the number of fatalities was three, one of them a Finnish citizen.
According to the site, the Finns were on board a Cessna 182 plane which crashed in Tokwane-Ngundu in the southern part of the country. In addition to the four Finnish tourists the aircraft’s pilot also perished in the accident, the site said.
Other media reports indicated that the aircraft was bound for Victoria Falls when the incident occurred and that local officials are investigating the cause of the accident.
Meanwhile the Finnish Foreign Ministry’s communications unit has said that it is aware of the crash but is awaiting confirmation of the victims’ nationality.
