On Sunday night clocks in Finland move ahead one hour. The official transition takes place at 3am on Sunday, 29 March.
Finland returns to standard time in October when clocks 'fall back' an hour.
The country has followed the twice-yearly custom of switching clocks since 1981.
Finns call for standard time
In 2019, the European Parliament voted to scrap seasonal clock changes--an initiative Finland had supported. Finland has said it wants to remain on standard time year round.
Now it’s up to EU member states to agree whether they will choose standard or daylight saving time. In order to avoid problems and market conflicts, the EU Parliament has said it wants individual countries to coordinate their decisions with each other.
All Baltic and Nordic states--excluding Denmark--have been in ongoing discussions to reach a common position on a permanent time zone.
The EU Parliament has announced a 2021 deadline for ending the biannual clock change.
