Finnair carried 85.8 percent fewer passengers in August compared to the same month a year ago, according to a company release issued on Tuesday.
The airline said it carried a total of 193,000 passengers in August, which was 32.9 percent more than in July of this year.
Like most airlines around the world, Finnair saw a massive decline in passenger numbers due to the global coronavirus crisis.
North Atlantic traffic down 100 percent
"The Covid-19 impact, including the strict travel restrictions imposed by Finland, still affected all passenger traffic figures and was visible especially in the North Atlantic figures as there were no related scheduled flights in August," the statement read.
Meanwhile passenger numbers on flights to Asian destinations were down 96.4 percent and passenger volumes on European routes decreased by nearly 85 percent compared to August 2019.
The airline said it currently operates an average of 116 daily flights, including cargo flights, or about 31.8 percent of daily flight numbers in August of last year.
Last month Finnair announced lay-off talks aimed at cutting some 1,000 jobs, saying it aimed to save around 100 million euros per year.
