In the 2017 municipal election, voter turnout in more affluent districts were higher than in lower income areas.
Political power seems to follow the money, at least in Helsinki, APN reporter Ndéla Faye discovered this week. Faye looked at the composition of the Helsinki city council and found that a good two-thirds of city councillors came from well-heeled neighbourhoods in the downtown area.

Voter activity in the capital also appeared to be higher in more tony districts than in lower income areas, according to data from the last municipal election in 2017.
APN also spoke with Joni Savolainen, an IT professional struggling to return to normalcy through a fog of long-term Covid 19 symptoms. THL scientist Hanna Nohynek told APN that researchers in Finland have started looking at people experiencing symptoms long after diagnosis and speculated that if all goes well, a vaccine for the disease could be ready for distribution early next year.
