The majority of people in Finland have trusted the information provided by medical specialists during the Covid pandemic, according to the results of a survey conducted by the Municipal Sector Development Foundation (KAKS).
Some 65 percent of respondents rated the communication by medical specialists as being either very good or fairly good in the survey, which asked members of the public to provide feedback on how key stakeholders have provided information during the Covid crisis.
The survey also found that slightly less than half of respondents were satisfied with the government's communication during the pandemic, and an even smaller proportion — 42 percent — were pleased with the performance of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health.
Meanwhile some 38 percent of respondents reported being especially dissatisfied with the communication provided by Minister for Family Affairs and Social Services Krista Kiuru (SDP).
Finns Party supporters have less trust in Covid information
The survey results also highlighted how a respondent's party affiliation was often a factor in how much or how little they trusted the official channels of information.
Supporters of Prime Minister Sanna Marin's Social Democratic Party (SDP) were overall quite satisfied with the communication coming from all stakeholders while Finns Party voters were less inclined to trust the information provided by official sources.
Meanwhile supporters of the National Coalition Party (NCP) praised the performance of medical specialists in particular while Centre Party voters were more trusting with the information provided by Regional State Administrative Agencies (Avi's).
Pollster Kantar TNS conducted a total of 1,000 interviews between 11 and 15 September. September to compile the survey.
